About Dine Nebraska

So much goes into every experience we have at a restaurant, whether it’s casual, fine dining, a cocktail lounge or brewery. We want to share the knowledge of industry professionals, provide tips for cooking enthusiasts, and highlight the unique events and opportunities available in our community, all with the hope of elevating the Nebraska dining experience.


STAFF

Carole Sprunk, Owner/Publisher

Carole Sprunk is the publisher and owner of Dine Magazine. Since 2012, Carole has been involved in the newspaper and printing industries. Starting a Newspapers In Education program, having a passion for printing and love for Omaha led to purchasing Dine’s sister publication Edge Magazine. Carole@dinenebraska.com

Michael Meyer, Co-owner

Michael has always been writer at heart. Over the past 2 years he has covered the Nebraska craft beer scene through his blog joejavastout.com and has published his first book. Michael is a supporter of the Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild and Pink Boots Society. He has a passion for supporting local businesses and charities.

Kathy Rygg, Executive Editor

Kathy, an Omaha native and graduate of Iowa State University, is a writer, editor, and children’s book author. She is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Elkhorn Athletic Association,  a committee member for the Nebraska/Iowa Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation annual Night of Champions event, and the parent coordinator for the My IBD Family committee at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.  Kathy@dinenebraska.com

Gabby Hellbusch, Managing Editor

Gabby, a rural Nebraska native and journalism graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is a freelance writer and editor with a passion for storytelling and local business. She also enjoys serving as a mentor for the TeamMates program. In her free time, she can be found taking regular trips to the library, shopping at local boutiques, baking/enjoying sweets, and spending time with friends and family. Gabby@dinenebraska.com

Quentin Lueninghoener, Designer

Quentin is a graphic designer, illustrator and journalist based in Omaha, Neb. After earning a degree in News-Editorial from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Communication, he worked as a designer and artist at The Oregonian and The Omaha World-Herald. Since 2012, he’s been running a design company, Hanscom Park Studio, which worked on the design of the magazine and Dine website.

Christopher Tierney, Photographer

Chris, an Omaha native, has been a photographer for 9 years and studied under several local area photographers before setting off on his own. He loves meeting new, interesting people, doesn’t take himself too seriously, and can make a mean PB&J sandwich (his wife is a classically trained French chef). Mark Gudgel, Contributing Writer

Mark Gudgel is an Omaha-based teacher and writer with a passion for supporting small local businesses.

Anna Hartman, Contributing Writer

Anna is a freelance food writer, recipe tester, and culinary student who adores mise en place, eats, drinks, and outdoorsy activities. You will also find her working in the Continuing Education department at the MCC Institute for the Culinary Arts, further feeding her mise en place obsession while helping others find their way around the kitchen.

Holly McAtee, Contributing Writer

Holly McAtee is a freelance writer and editor originally from Cincinnati, Ohio.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Creative Writing Emphasis from Northern Kentucky University. She enjoys talking to people and finding out their story. Her writing has been published in Cincy Magazine, Metro Magazine,and in Dine Magazine,  She enjoys reading, writing poetry and fiction, art, theatre, and yoga. She is married with two kids and three rescue dogs.

Katy Spratte Joyce, Contributing Writer

Katy is a freelance food, travel, and business writer based in midtown Omaha, where she lives with her geriatric black lab Molly and her less geriatric husband Skip. She is passionate about covering the Midwest for publications such as Travel+Leisure, Departures, Eating Well, Thrillist, Reader’s Digest, and more. Besides writing, Katy is a lake enthusiast, active community volunteer with organizations like the Junior League of Omaha and DIBS for Kids, and enjoys a solid brunch. 

Vera Lynn Petersen, Contributing Writer

Vera is a food writer based out of a small town between Omaha and Des Moines. She refers to herself as “a local foodie cheerleader” in that she loves supporting and promoting all of the positive experiences she has at local restaurants. In addition to food writing, she is the founder of The Omaha Foodie Club, the Head of Community Engagement at Bench, and runs her own private practice for clinical mental health counseling.

Nicole Buntgen, Advertising Account Executive

Nicole is an Advertising Account Executive for Edge and Dine Magazines. She has a degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and fell in love with advertising as a freshman.
